Other Troubleshooting To Consider:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Windows
Troubleshooting - Windows is the main
program on many computer that run the environment in
which you see everything. When there are windows
issues, they can and may come in many forms. One of
the main indication that you could be having windows
issues could be but are not limited to the following
events:
Windows message appears "Program Has Been Shut Down
Improperly"
Windows has encountered an error
Programs Shut Down During Use, such as: Word,
Photoshop, AOL, Internet Explorer Etc...
Windows Restarts By It's Self
Windows Hangs and will
not turn off computer
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Software
Troubleshooting - Software troubleshooting
is a very technical and varies from computer to
computer depending on the installed program. It
requires ones experience with a wide variety of
different programs and also the experience of various
types of errors and last but not least the ability to
remember what cause what on different programs and
then attempt to solve the problem. The resolution can
come in many forms from tweaking the program, rolling
back windows, reinstalling core components, or
ultimately - uninstalling the program and
re-installing it.
Connection
Troubleshooting - Connection
Troubleshooting Issues are typically found in only (3)
categories. The listed categories have been listed
below.
Dial Up - Phone
DSL
Cable
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dial Up Connection
- Dial up connection is when you plug you phone line
into the back of the computer and you set up an access
number to connect to the company who sold you your
internet service - They provide a "Gateway" for you to
use their software / Program in order to surf the
internet. Many time they will by "Default" give you
several different screen name in which you can sign on
to or create. Those screen names will be different
that the one you had initially created, and the ISPS
will normally give your additional screen name to
co-exist with the additional screen names that you
have created.
No Connection To The Internet: Try These Steps
1). Make sure you have a phone line that is not
clipped, snipped, or OLD. Or even Use a new phone
cord.
2). Go to the control panel and make sure there is no
yellow exclamation or red X in the device manager next
to the Modem.
3). Make sure your home page in internet Explorer has
not been Hijacked to another page.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DSL Connection
- DSL connection is very like your phone line
connection in that the DSL company uses just that:
Your phone line, to connect to the internet. The
difference here is that the DSL company (Which in many
cases is your phone company) uses methods of breaking
down their phone signal provided to your home and they
charge you for the BAND or the Signal Frequency). This
is more of a direct connection to them due to the
different frequency provided and all that much less
traffic. (I.E. Many more phone users than DSL users).
this has actually changed in the last few years as to
where the phone companies are noticing that there is a
lot of Internet connections as opposed to the Old
Phone Lime Users, I am assuming that they suspect a
rise in Internet Connections as A Primary Source Of
Income and they may be changing their terms
accordingly.
No Connection To The Internet with Only A DSL Box: (No
Router Or Hub)
Try These Steps
1). turn off computer (Leave it off)
2). Unplug Power To The DSL Box for 10 Seconds, Turn
it back on
3). Wait 30 seconds and now turn on the computer
This should reset your DSL Connection
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cable Connection
- Cable connections are much like the DSL connection
the is provided by your phone company, the difference
is that your cable company will send out a hardware
box that allows you to screw a TV Cable into the box.
It is based on pretty much the same principal as the
DSL in splitting the Signal in to different
frequencies. The speed of the signal is much faster on
cable.
No Connection To The Internet with Only A Cable Box:

Try These Steps
1). turn off computer (Leave it off)
2). Unplug Power To The Cable Box for 10 Seconds, Turn
